The much sought after Mike Meloche restorations it seems, are like London busses: You wait for ever for one to come along, and then two arrive at once! NX8TE was originally restored for Tom Eanes, hence the "TE". The aircraft has a little more calendar time since restoration than the recently sold example, but has an installed radio, GPS and transponder, the sleeker Earl Hickman cowling, Swiss color scheme and of course the cute (if inefficient) wheel fenders. The 2000 series CASA aircraft have several worthwhile improvements, the most significant of which is a stronger forward fuselage designed to accommodate the weighty ENMA Tigre engine. The Ellison TBI equipped O-360 is not as heavy as the Tigre, but it makes more power so that extra strength is nice to have. If you are lucky, you might be able to find the article on the a/c that appeared in Air Classics magazine. Sorry, I don't know the date. - SB
