Bücker & Funk have new website on line at http://www.bueckerundfunk.de/
German aircraft manufacturers B&F Technik Speyer have just announced the latest project in their “FK Classic Line”. A series of initially only 10 aircraft replicas of the famous Bücker131 Jungmann biplane of the Thirties and Fourties era of the twentieth century will be produced in co-operation with the Czech company Podesva Air.
This will be a relatively exact replica of the Jungmann's "A" version with almost identical dimensions. From 1934 through 1935 the first series of the Jungmann aircraft model was equipped by Bücker with an 80 hp Hirth engine. This power plant's technical successor, the Walter Micron IIIC is still being built in the Czech Republic to this day, albeit in a technically modified form, but as an aviation certified, 2.7 litre in-line four cylinder aircraft engine. By selecting this engine for their Jungmann replica, B&F have made sure that, both the sound as well as the performance of the FK131 will be very closely similar to the original Jungmann.
The FK 131 can be certified either as a kitplane within the Experimental category, or as an ultralight aircraft! This is hardly surprising since the A-series of Jungmann aircraft were originally made by Bücker with an empty weight of just 340 kg. With its slightly modified construction of the empennage, today's lighter engine, and a number of further improvements B&F have set the ambitious goal of meeting the requirements for a certification of the FK131 in the European ultralight- or US LSA category. In spite of the low weight of the aircraft, Peter Funk, graduate engineer and owner of B&F has designed the FK131 in accordance with the requirements for simple aerobatic aircraft.
In contrast with all other FK aircraft models that are being licence-built and marketed by the Polish company FK-Lightplanes since 2010, the limited series of FK131 aircraft will be made and sold directly by B&F to afford a favourable price. The first three aircraft will thus be available at a special price of approximately 76,000.00 Euros including 19% VAT. The remaining aircraft in the limited edition will then be sold at circa 85,000.00 Euros per aircraft.

Update
Some news about our LSA Jungmann project. While test flying the FK131 prototype is in progress we received a lot of press attention. Two cover pages of Europe’s biggest aviation magazines “Fliegermagazin” and “Aerokurier” in same month!
Feedback was also surprising on customer side. 7 out of the initial series of 10 planes had been sold even before the first customer was able to see it flying.
We are also happy to see that the flight performance is coming pretty close to what the original 1934 prospect of the “A”type told us…
Press release and new pictures
With the beginning of the year 2014 B&F Speyer started with delivery of first two customer aircraft of the light sport “FK131 Jungmann”
The replica project which was created on the drawings of the Bücker 131A version is currently in the type certification process in Germany as light aircraft. It is also produced in kit form for Experimental builders and as LSA aircraft.
Meantime the main part of the flight test program has been completed. The recorded performance data are coming very close to the original design. Also static flutter tests had been completed; they prove the design to be free of flutter up to over 400 km/hr!
Where the original A Jungmann had been powered by an 80hp Hirth HM60 engine, the FK131 uses a 82hp Walter engine which is produced in the Czech Republic. The basic design of this engine is also coming from the 1935, but it has been updated in many details to current technology.
A follow-on series of Jungmann are scheduled to be delivered within 2014. At present the demand is exceeding the production capacities.
