EC-XGI was built in Albacete by the old masters of La Maestranza de Albacete, so it is a new plane, with all original Bücker parts except for the front cockpit altimeter, every single piece is original. An original unflown fuselage was used and T-88 Structural epoxy adhesive was used for the woodworks. The fabric used is Poly Fiber plus PoliBrush and PoliTak. The engine is a 125-horsepower Tigre G IV A2 that was completely overhauled. The aircraft flew the first flight in July 2013, having so far accumulated a total of 72h the Engine and 53h the airframe. The aircraft is in flight condition having its Certificate of Airworthiness is valid for another two years
.
A professional pilot, I started to fly in Spanish air forces before moving to Iberia, the Spanish flag carrier, I have flown Bückers Texan T 6, Caravelle, DC 9, B 727, A320, A 330 and A 340, during my 56 years dedicated to this job, now I work as Flight Instructor for Airbus, training military pilots for the A 330 MRTT.
But when I joined the Air forces in 1966 the first plane I flew was a Bücker…and I decided that this should be the last one as well. Now I have my own Bucker and my brother (who is also Pilot) has another one, we both are above 70s and we want to sell one of them, as we don’t fly that much and having only one we can share the costs.
